How Many Prop Firm Accounts Can You Have? Limits by Firm in 2026

October 7, 2026•PropFirmsRadar Team•7 min read

How many prop firm accounts can you have? There is no industry-wide limit and no regulator setting one. Every firm writes its own cap, and the caps measure different things: some count funded accounts, some count total capital, some count withdrawals across everything you hold. This guide lists the account limits we have documented, from Apex's 20 funded accounts down to firms that cap allocation instead, and the multiple prop firm accounts rules that get traders closed out even when they stay under the number.

Short answer: you can generally hold accounts at several firms at once - the rules that reach across firms are about copy trading and hedging, not account counts. Inside one firm, futures firms typically allow 5 to 6 funded accounts at once, Apex allows 20, and forex firms more often cap your total funded capital than your account count.

Two Different Questions: Per Firm and Across Firms

Traders asking about account limits usually mean one of two things. The first is how many accounts a single firm will let you run at the same time. That is a published rule, it differs a lot between firms, and the table below covers it. The second is whether holding accounts at several firms at once is allowed. Generally yes: an Apex account does not stop you buying a Topstep Combine, and we have not found a firm in our database whose rules forbid accounts elsewhere. What crosses firm boundaries is behaviour, not the account count - mainly copying trades between accounts and holding opposite positions in them.

Max funded accounts per firm

FirmPublished limitWhat the limit counts
Apex Trader FundingUp to 20 funded accountsPerformance Accounts held at once; each ends after 6 payouts
TradeDayUp to 6 accountsConcurrent accounts, with funding up to $250,000
Taurus ArenaUnlimited challenges, 5 fundedFunded accounts per trader
Shark FuturesUnlimited Basic challenges, 5 fundedFunded accounts; the "$750K" headline is five $150K accounts
LifeUp Trading100 challenges a month, 5 reward accountsActive funded (reward) accounts at once
Phidias Propfirm5 Express to Live accountsAll sizes combined, on that route only
Alpha Futures$750,000 combinedAllocation across qualified accounts, not a count
MyFundedFutures$150,000 per accountSize of a single account, not a count

Two patterns stand out. Futures firms set a count, usually five or six, with Apex as the outlier that makes running many cheap accounts its whole model. And several firms that look unlimited on the evaluation side - Taurus Arena and Shark Futures both allow unlimited challenges - still cap you at five once you are funded. The evaluation limit and the funded limit are separate rules, and the funded one is the one that matters.

Account Limits Are Often Allocation Limits

A count is not the only way firms cap you. Alpha Futures sells individual accounts from $50,000 to $150,000 but limits combined allocation to $750,000 across qualified accounts. Forex firms usually work this way too, scaling by total capital rather than by how many accounts you hold. Other firms cap what you can take out rather than what you hold: Maven Trading limits withdrawals to $10,000 in any rolling 30-day window, applied across all your accounts combined, so a second account adds buying power but not withdrawal room.

  • Per-trader profit tiers. Elite Trader Funding pays 100% of the first $12,500 in sim-funded profit, but that tranche is per trader, not per account - opening more accounts does not reset it.
  • Merging instead of stacking. BrightFunded lets you merge funded accounts, but only into sizes it sells (two $50K into a $100K) and only where both share the same platform, add-ons and payout cycle.
  • Route locks. Once you go live through Phidias's Express to Live route, you can no longer buy challenges on that route.
  • One profile per person. Fintokei, FXIFY and BrightFunded enforce a single trader profile across email addresses and KYC identity. Accounts sit under that profile; a second profile in your name, or a relative's, is the breach.

Multiple Prop Firm Accounts Rules That Close Accounts

Traders rarely lose accounts for exceeding a published cap - the checkout simply stops them. They lose them for how the accounts are traded together. The same rules come up at firm after firm:

What gets multiple accounts closed

Hedging across accounts. Apex, MyFundedFutures, BrightFunded and Traders Launch all ban opposite positions across accounts, and Traders Launch extends it to correlated pairs such as long NQ against short ES. AquaFunded allows hedging inside one account but not across two.
Accounts in someone else's name. KYC links the profile to you; an account held by a relative and traded by you is account sharing.
Device and credential sharing. MyFundedFutures bans device sharing, and Apex bans account and credential sharing.
Copying another person's trades. Most firms allow copying between your own accounts and ban copying anyone else.
Paying activation fees you forgot to budget. Not a breach, but at Apex every extra Performance Account carries its own activation fee, which promo codes never discount.

Planning to run a trade copier across your accounts?

Whether copying between your own accounts is allowed depends on the firm - and some ban mirroring your own trades at another firm. We list the rules firm by firm.

Is Running Several Accounts Worth It?

Sometimes, for specific reasons. A second account spreads the risk of one rule breach ending your funding. Firm limits also push traders toward it: Apex ends each Performance Account after six payouts, so parallel accounts are how traders keep earning, and MyFundedFutures caps a single account at $150,000, so more capital means more accounts somewhere. The cost is linear, though. Every account needs its own evaluation fee, often its own activation fee, and its own consistency and payout cycle. Two or three accounts is the practical maximum for most traders; beyond that, tracking each account's drawdown becomes the risk.

Before you open a second account at the same firm

Find the funded-account cap, not just the challenge cap
Check whether the firm caps allocation or withdrawals across all accounts
Confirm a trade copier is allowed if you plan to use one
Never hold opposite or correlated-opposite positions across accounts
Budget the activation fee for every account you expect to pass
Keep every account under your own name and KYC profile

How Many Prop Firm Accounts Can You Have: FAQ

Can you have multiple prop firm accounts at different firms?

Generally yes - we have not found a firm in our database that forbids accounts at other firms. Rules that cross firms cover behaviour - copying trades and hedging between accounts - and Fintokei goes further by banning mirroring your own trades at another firm.

Which prop firm allows the most funded accounts?

Apex Trader Funding, at up to 20 Performance Accounts at once. TradeDay allows 6, and Taurus Arena, Shark Futures and LifeUp Trading allow 5 funded accounts each.

Can I run the same trades on all my prop firm accounts?

At firms that allow copy trading between your own accounts, yes - FXIFY, BrightFunded, LifeUp Trading and Dominion Funding all permit it. Fintokei and Trading Cult ban it. Trades must go the same direction on every account; opposite positions count as hedging.

Do account limits include failed or passed challenges?

Usually not. Funded caps count active funded accounts. Evaluation limits are separate and often looser - Taurus Arena and Shark Futures allow unlimited challenges, and LifeUp caps purchases at 100 a month.
